18 April 2010 Better Late than Never Thanks to all of you who came out to see us at Gennaro's and Señoritas last month! We were really happy to get such great support at these new venues, and we want you to come out and see us again at our upcoming shows. If you can't make it, tell your friends about us, and keep checking our Schedule. Also we'll be back at The Cambridge Inn in two weeks. We've got a busy spring and summer shaping up, so make sure you join us for the good times. --John 15 August 2009 Just a Reminder Wow ... six days between updates ... that might be a record. Anyway, I just want to remind you that we're going to be at Primetime a week from tonight. We were thrilled to see so many of you last time, and we hope you can make it again. For anyone still wondering, yes, the computer is still not up and running yet. I may have to do a workaround that I don't want to do, but it may be my only option. Finally, just a quick note on the passing of the legendary Les Paul. He was brilliant, and his passion for sound left an indelible stamp on musicians, and music itself. His contributions were revolutionary. Again, we're looking forward to returning to Primetime and seeing you there. --John 09 August 2009 Still Crashed I'm still working on an alternate computer after mine crashed in June. This also explains the delay in pictures and movies getting to the site. As always, I offer my sincere apologies. I welcome comments from anyone well-versed in data recovery, as well as how to upgrade old technology. Enough of that for now. Thanks again to all of you who came out to see us at Primetime on 17 July. We're going to be back there in two weeks (22 August), and we hope you'll join us there again! I'll post more soon ... my daughter beckons. --John 15 June 2009 Good Fellers First, we want to thank all of you who came to see us at The Cambridge Inn this past Saturday. It was great to come back to Central Jersey, and to catch up with a lot of friends we hadn't seen in a while. Our sound was good, and you all gave us a nice welcome back to the area. Thanks again for a great time, Spotswood. Second, the Good Fellers reference is because Christian came over last Friday night, and we brought down a couple of poplar trees in my yard. Our chainsaws were blazing as we took down the deadwood with amazing precision ... most of the time. The blade chewed away at the trunks, spraying sawdust like confetti on my arms and shielding them from the blasts of hot air from the two-cycle engine. Then, as the trunk of the towering poplar was thinned to a sliver of its former self, loud cracking could be heard and the treetop began accelerating toward the ground. Guided only by a single rope and herculean strength, it was coaxed between the trees lining the edge of the property. Through the euphoria of success, however, I noted a touch of sadness, for I realized that I may very well have missed my calling in life. Nah ... I'd rather be rockin'. We have footage of us performing this takedown, and a couple photos of us with our chainsaws in harmony. I hope to get those posted soon, and I probably could have done it in the time it took me write my prose, but my time is short now and I'll have to do it later. Third, we've got a new venue lined up for next month: Primetime in Sayreville. We're going to be there Friday, 17 July, so we hope you'll come out and join us. I'll provide more details in the coming days. I hope you're enjoying the Summer when it isn't raining. --John 13 April 2009 The Hazmats Not Back at Emerson ... Yet Well, due to a scheduling mixup, we will not be at The Emerson Hotel this Friday, either. We're going to see if we can nail down a date at some venue between now and The Cambridge Inn on 13 June (Saturday). I will keep you posted should that happen. In the meantime, I hope you all had a happy Easter and Passover. Enjoy the warmer weather ... when it gets here. --John 10 April 2009 The Hazmats Back at Emerson First, let me thank all of you who came out to see us at Krogh's. I realize it's been a while since I've written ... as you can see, my last entry was almost a year ago. I have a lot of friends mad at me for that. However, we had a new addition to the family last month, so there was a lot of preparation before that and not a lot of sleep after that. Next Friday, we'll be back at The Emerson Hotel (17 April). As always, we're looking forward to returning, and we can't wait to see you there. We hope you'll join us next week. Keep coming back, too. I will make a better effort to supply more material so we can update this section more frequently. --John 11 April 2008 We Are The Hazmats Boy, it felt good to get back out and play after some time away from it. We had a great time at (including the numerous references to Sparta), and we want to sincerely thank all of you who come out to see us. I really hope that the Century 21 group, 12 Gauge, Brenda, Sean, Nikki and Anthony and so many others had as much fun as we did. As is often the case, playing in a new venue in a new area gives us the chance to catch up with friends we haven't seen in a while. In addition, they have a great sound system there, so that even I sounded good. The last I learned we are close to lining up (if we haven't already) two shows there for the Summer, and that's because of all of you. As that information becomes more concrete, I'll let you know. Next Friday, we'll be back at The Emerson Hotel (18 April). This is a venue that's close to some more good friends and family, so we're excited about returning there. We'll have our own sound system there. This doesn't mean too much in terms of our overall sound ... it's more that I have to transport more equipment, the speakers being the heaviest. Now, before you call me a wuss, keep in mind that the SP5G's are pretty hefty, and I'll have worked a full day prior to the show. This wasn't such a big deal ten years ago (where did that go, by the way?), but it stands out a little more in my mind now. Now you can call me a wuss. We hope you'll join us next week. Keep coming back, too. I will make a better effort to supply more material so we can update this section more frequently. --John |
